i was attempting to transcribe components of a mystical visionary journey technically referred to as DAYDREAM that came to me over a period of months which began with the idea of a labyrinth that had become something of an obsession. this labyrinth passed through groves of trunks on a path that was apparent only to the embodied figure walking those grounds and as though the spaces between the trees were invisibly walled but so that when retrospectively viewed from beyond the path could no longer be perceived between those stems being concealed by something of certain obstruction. it was meant to indicate the genuine experience of being in a labyrinth but at the same time being in a world in which certain pathways are possible or even inevitable. i did not know why i was connecting with this particular imagined experience only that i was failing in its written elucidation. it was just what the daydream communicated was the experience of the figure described within it but not necessarily for any reasons relating to realworld reality.

what happens in art stays in art

i have been considering comparisons between the two principle figures of Forster’s A Room With A View and Braddon’s Lady Audley’s Secret, both very unique and charismatic creations; one having been composed by a man and one by a woman; the former a heroine and the latter antiheroine; both pianists; the former specialising in Mozart and the latter Beethoven. i have imagined what these two women might talk about if they met, and i cant think of what it could be, because although each is an accomplished artist, neither seems to be very interested in discussing her art. perhaps they are content to leave it all to the gossip rags.

secret world

Nov 21 2012 Published by under Uncategorized

“Writing being a secret world I might go into. Secret partly because I am constrained by the limits of my voice & ability, so that in necessarily failing I might always simply do my best, but also because I might never know just how badly I am failing, by not knowing how much better I could do. And firstly (before all of this), because no one else understands. They just laugh at me.”
