what happens in art stays in art

Nov 26 2012

i have been considering comparisons between the two principle figures of Forster’s A Room With A View and Braddon’s Lady Audley’s Secret, both very unique and charismatic creations; one having been composed by a man and one by a woman; the former a heroine and the latter antiheroine; both pianists; the former specialising in Mozart and the latter Beethoven. i have imagined what these two women might talk about if they met, and i cant think of what it could be, because although each is an accomplished artist, neither seems to be very interested in discussing her art. perhaps they are content to leave it all to the gossip rags.
